Starting from 1 April 2024, the minimum wage in Ukraine will increase to UAH 8,000, which will result in an increase in various employment-related compensation payments in line with the minimum wage.
Starting April 1, the minimum wage in Ukraine will increase to UAH 8,000, and compensation payments to employers will increase in this regard. This was reported by UNN with reference to the State Employment Service.
Details
Starting from April 1, 2024, in accordance with the Law "On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2024", the minimum wage in Ukraine will increase to UAH 8 thousand. In this regard, the amount of certain payments related to employment, the amount of which is aligned with the minimum wage, will change
In particular, the increase in the minimum wage in Ukraine will affect the amount of compensation payments to employers. Namely:
The compensation for employment of people with disabilities, combatants, those who have no more than 5 years left before the right to an old-age pension and citizens who have been registered as unemployed for more than 1 month will now amount to UAH 8 thousand (50% of actual labor costs, but not more than the minimum wage). The duration of such compensation is 6 months for each odd month of the employee's work.
The compensation for the employment of young people from among the registered unemployed (under 25 years of age - with less than 12 months of insurance experience; under 35 years of age - for the first job; discharged from military service / alternative service - for the first job) will increase to UAH 4 thousand (no more than 50 percent of the minimum wage). The duration of such compensation is 6 months for each odd month of the employee's work.
The compensation for employment of registered unemployed persons who have been in this status for more than 1 month and have additional employment guarantees or who have been in the status of registered unemployed for more than 6 months will increase to UAH 3,520 (not more than double the minimum insurance contribution, which is 22% of the minimum wage). The duration of such compensation is 12 months for each odd month of the employee's work
The compensation for the employment of internally displaced persons during martial law will be UAH 8 thousand starting from April 1, 2024 (1 minimum wage for a fully completed monthly (hourly) work rate). The duration of such compensation is no more than 3 months, and no more than 6 months for people with disabilities.
In addition, the compensation of employer's expenses for labor remuneration of IDPs hired by the employment centers will increase to UAH 16 thousand (not exceeding two minimum wages or the corresponding amount calculated from it in case the person worked for an incomplete month). The duration of such compensation is 6 months, for persons with additional employment guarantees - 12 months, for each odd month.
Addendum
The amount of partial unemployment benefits per employee or individual entrepreneur will also increase to UAH 4 thousand (not more than 50% of the minimum wage). The duration of such assistance is no more than 180 calendar days in total within 36 months.
The maximum amount of remuneration for participation in public works will also increase and from April 1 will amount to UAH 12 thousand per month (no more than one and a half times the minimum wage for a fully completed monthly (hourly) labor rate).
